Founder and Executive Director

Natalie Magness (FRSA)

I am a first-generation final-year Human Sciences student at University College London, and I am passionate about driving social impact through youth empowerment and leadership. I am Malaysian but was fortunate to have grown up in Qatar, an extremely diverse nation. This third-culture identity has molded me into a global citizen passionate about connecting with others but has also exposed me to the many hardships and injustices others face, reinforcing my desire to use my privilege to help others.

At age 12, I attended the World Innovation Summit for Education where I had the opportunity to meet Mrs. Obama. Having founded a charity concert for Education Above All, I was chosen as one of their Youth Advocates and a Doha Debates Ambassador. I was then invited back to the WISE summit as a moderator and a presenter at the Qatar Leadership Conference. During my first year at university, I served as Life Sciences Undergraduate Faculty Representative and received the Laidlaw Research and Leadership Scholarship. These experiences grounded education and leadership as core parts of my identity. I am also a keen public speaker, having spoken on these topics at TEDxYouth@NIA, virtual youth conferences in Peru and India, and podcasts including America's leading higher education podcast, EdUp Experience. Currently, I am a World Economic Forum Global Shaper in the London Hub II, Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts (FRSA), and One Young World Ambassador.

I am Rebecca Magness, the lead director of Qatar Youth Power, it brings me much joy and compassion to share my diverse upbringing as a third-culture kid ( Chinese and Eurasian born and raised in Doha) with others through hosting various exciting events and conferences. Having an experience as the president of my school’s MUN club, I have been fortunate enough to have honed strong skills in leadership, open-mindedness, debate, communication and the passion for solving global issues or spreading awareness. Additionally, I am an avid golfer who always aspires to be the best I can be, and I do voice where I sing opera in various languages which I am very grateful about to have such diversity in my life! I am extremely proud to be part of the QYP team and get ready for our next events :)
